First conference on Islamophobia

DEAR All, Arab and Muslim Identities on Trial: Youth Step Up and Speak Out!" will be a conference hosted by youth, and for youth. It will be a safe and open forum for youth to discuss and exchange ideas regarding hate crimes against Arabs and Muslims, and the ways in which we can respond to issues of Islamophobia in healthy, non-violent, and creative means. We will be having presenters from various age groups, although mostly youth. They will present on topics such as: the policing of Arab and Muslim communities, Arab and Muslims in the media, and responses to Islamophobia.
Although our target audience is youth, everyone is welcome to attend regardless of race and ethnicity, gender, religion, sect, sexual orientation, and political affiliation). The day will begin with a representative from CAIR-Canada who will be giving the key-note speech. Panels will follow for the rest of the morning and afternoon. The conference will end with various workshops so that the audience can divide into smaller groups and participate in a more interactive setting.
