WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Muslim American Society's (MAS) Girl Scout Troop 3611 will be nationally recognized January 21, 2008, as one of its members, Anwar Esam Omeish, participates in the Oprah Winfrey Show's celebration of Martin Luther King Day.
Miss Omeish, 11, participated in a competition auditioning young girls of different religious and ethnic backgrounds, from across the nation, for the chance to present an excerpt from the famous Martin Luther King speech, "I Have a Dream". Being selected for this honor came as quite a surprise to Miss Omeish, a Libyan-American Muslim
from Virginia.
The "I Have a Dream" speech segment of the January 21 special episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show will be filmed in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. for broadcast on Monday, January 21, 2008, on ABC Channel 7 at 4:00 PM EST. MAS is thankful and proud that Miss Omeish will be a part of this special event and congratulates MAS Girl Scout Troop 3611 for this outstanding achievement.
