Showcasing the Muslim Community in Chicago Area

CHICAGO: Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago is organizing an annual community dinner by showcasing the Muslim Community in Chicago area with one thousand dignitaries at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center Ballroom 5555 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018. John Esposito and Salam Al-Marayati will be the main speakers.

John L. Esposito is a professor of International Affairs and Islamic studies at Georgetown University and the director of the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University. He has published several books on Islam, including Islam and Politics and Islam: The Straight Path. He has been one of the leading figures in shedding a positive light on Islam in mainstream American society.

Salam Al-Marayati is the Executive Director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, an American Muslim public service and policy organization. He has spoken in front of community organizations, schools, churches, and college campuses for the past sixteen years. He has been featured on C-SPAN and NBC and has appeared on shows such as the Dennis Miller Show and Politically Incorrect.

The council, a federation of more than fifty masjids and other organizations serving 400,000 Muslims in the Chicago Area invites men, women, youth, non-Muslim, new Muslim of all ages.
