JAMAAT-E-ISLAMI has issued directives to party leaders and workers for observing Black Day on May 12 to condemn MQM terrorism on peaceful opposition workers and lawyers during the visit of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to Karachi last year and later burning alive nine lawyers and litigants on April 9 this year.
According to a circular issued with the signatures of Deputy Secretary General Dr Farid Paracha, all ameers of provinces and districts have been asked to complete preparations for holding rallies, demonstrations, seminars and meetings on May 12 in which lawyers and opposition leaders should be invited to participate.
The letter reminded that on May 12, 07 MQM committed gross terrorism killing 50 opposition supporters including those of JI and Tehrik Insaf. Gen Pervez Musharraf termed this bloody display of terrorism as show of his political power. No case was registered, nor was any arrest made, even any formal inquiry as not held despite that many culprits were easily recognizable from the TV footage.
Encouraged by this, the MQM terrorists set ablaze nine lawyers and litigants on April 9, 08. To highlight the state terrorism patronized by Gen Musharraf and to express solidarity with the innocent victims besides the cause of independence of judiciary, JI will observe Black Day all over the country, the directives concluded.
