The Threats of WW III, A Sign of US Insanity; Fadallah

SENIOR Lebanese cleric, Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, says US threats concerning an impending World War III are a sign of US insanity.

"The clear message that (US president George) Bush conveyed in his warning about an impending World War III is that the United States plans to put Russia under pressure to change its policies in the region," said Allameh Fadlallah during a speech on Sunday.

"We believe US threats of an approaching World War III and their use of Iran's nuclear issue as an excuse is another form of American insanity," he added.

Allameh Fadlallah said the US is fueling some matters related to regional minorities to incite division in the Middle East. These measures not only affect countries in a negative way, but set the scene for chaos and sinister plots, he said.

The cleric continued that although America can create problems for the region, it is not able to control the situation there, or even take a move that it could benefit from. He also, called on regional countries and nations to take the initiative and prevent chaos and war.

Finally, he warned that the policies of Lebanon's ruling March 14 coalition are in line with those of the United States. He said the Lebanese must remember that America is not trying to help the Lebanese military nor the country's freedom and independence, but is aiming to transform Lebanon to a US political and military station.
