A US Muslim’s Letter from Philippine

GREETINGS of Peace and Mercy to everyone.

I've been fairly silent from emails, especially mass emails like this one, since moving to the Philippines.  For that I'm very sorry.

Many receiving this email already know that I am a volunteer broadcaster on the Armed Forces of the Philippines Radio Network (PH ID: DWDD 1134 Khz).  The radio show is entitled The Message and my wife and her mother have a companion show called Women in Islam which started about two months later.

In late January we started a project (again, volunteering) with the Bonsai Masters of the Philippines in teaching a livelihood to a poor mountain community outside of Manila.  The goal was to train people in agricultural development on the mountainside and teach them how to propagate, market and sell ornamental plants along with edible produce.  We worked with them to help establish a cooperative and BMPI donated thousands of plants to begin propagation.

After each week's lesson we would give a brief lecture about Islam to the people assembled.

Last week four people in the community embraced Islam.
