THE nominees have been announced in seven categories for Al Mahabbah Awards Festival 2008 taking place April 24-26 at the Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi. Around 200 entries from 28 countries were reviewed by a judging committee of international specialists in the areas of literature and the arts headed by chairman Dr. Abdul Hakim Murad.
The Mahabbah Award Festival was established to reward artistic expressions, especially from young people, of the love for the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, to present these works to the public in the form of an annual awards show and help convey Islam’s message of peace and love to the world.
The festival is organized under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the festival’s honorary president.
The categories with announced nominees are songs, advertisements, documentaries, TV programs, films, books, photography, graphic arts, mass media and an award for event of the year. Three nominees have been chosen in each category except for advertisements which has four nominees. For the songs category, eight songs were shortlisted and the three nominees will be chosen through interactive audience voting at the end of the youth concert to be held on April 24.

Advertisements:
Ishtaqna ilayka ya Rasul Allah by Dar al-Fatwa, Lebanon. The 20-second TV commercial ran in various TV stations in the Arab World and was made to awaken feelings of love for The Prophet (PBUH)
Illa Rasul Allah, a one-minute TV commercial produced by The International Committee for the Support of The Final Prophet in Saudi Arabia
Unsurhu yashfa’u laka, a TV commercial made by Syrian producers Afaq
Love at War, the biggest TV commercial production to date about The Prophet (PBUH)

Ala Khattay al-Rasul, a documentary produced by MBC, Saudi Arabia
Sahihun am Da’if?, a TV program produced by al-Waha, Qatar
Alaa Khota Alhabib, a TV program produced by Iqraa TV, Saudi Arabia
In the Film category, there is one finalist, a documentary about Mostapha Akad and Mowaffaq Al Harthy.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) website is an up-to-date project that includes news about every type of activity around the world concerning the Prophet and is a bank of knowledge on related academic works. The website if published in Turkish, English and Russian in order to reach a wider audience.

The website is prepared with the aim of explaining and presenting The Prophet (PBUH) to the world through the most effective means of communication, the Internet. It was published in 2007 in Arabic with the intention to construct English and French sites.
Mehtap TV from Turkey.
Mehtap TV is a national broadcasting channel that was established in Istanbul in 2006 and broadcasts in Turkish. It is also broadcast via satellite and cable TV system as well as on the Internet and provides viewers with quality culture and lifestyle programs with a focus on The Prophet’s teachings.
Event of the Year:
Muhammed Al Hossary from Jordan.
Muhammed is a Jordanian businessman who brought media coverage in a Danish newspaper to introduce The Prophet (PBUH) to the Danish public.
Anders Bøtter from Denmark.
Anders is a Danish youth who created a Facebook group called Undskyld Muhammed (Sorry Muhammed) as a reaction to Danish newspapers’ decision to reprint pictures depicting The Prophet (PBUH).
Al Helal Club in Saudi Arabia.
Al Helal is a Saudi Football Club who decided to write ‘Except the Prophet’ on their shirts after winning a local football cup.
