Our knowledge of Allah is like the tip of an iceberg

Thrusting upward from a sea veiling what does not emerge.

The Scriptures tell us of Allah's marvelous qualities,

But His awesome power remains veiled in mysteries.

Allah’s transcendence may saturate your total being.

Perhaps you will glimpse through the sea of unknowing.

You may obtain more understanding of His splendor.

Such wondrous things do happen on the Night of Power.

Inspired by Al Hashr (The Exile) 59: 22-24; Al Qadr (The Night of Power) 97: 1-5.

Allah is He besides whom there is no deity.  It is He who knows both secrets and proclamations.  He is the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.

Allah is He besides whom there is no deity.  He is the King, the Holy One, the Peacekeeper, the Author of Faith, the Guardian, the Exalted in Might, the Final Authority, and the Supreme Being.  Glory belongs to Allah who is above any partners attributed to Him!   He is Allah the Creator, the Designer, and the Sculptor.  To Him belong the most beautiful names.  All that is of the skies and Earth declare His glory, and He is the One Exalted in Might and Wisdom.

We [God as the Majestic Unity] have indeed bestowed this [Revelation] on the Night of Power.  What will explain to you the Night of Power?  The Night of Power is more wonderful than a thousand months.  Therein descend the angels and the Spirit,[1] by Allah’s will, on every errand.  There is peace until the rise of morn.

[1] Although “the Spirit” is most often associated with the angel Gabriel, I think there is much greater meaning in contexts such as this.  I suggest that the Spirit is the active, living Word that encompasses and permeates.  “Be!” and it is.  On the Night of Power, the Qur’an was transported to the mind of the Prophet.  The Arabic grammar of Surah 97 personifies the night as female inseminated in a similar manner as Mary the mother of Jesus.  Perhaps this is a hint that it will be on the Night of Power when Jesus is transported back to Earth in portents of the Day of Judgment.
